Impact of stock shortage

Record asking prices

Average asking prices for homes coming on to the market increased by a record 2.3% in February according to Rightmove.

Data from the property portal reveals that prices are now 9.5% higher than a year ago – the highest annual rate of growth since September 2014.

This incredible record means that average asking prices have risen by nearly £40,000 in the two years since the pandemic began. This is a huge leap when compared with an increase of just over £9,000 in the previous two years.
