August highlights: Events in Guildford for all the family

#1 The Legends Festival

When? 28th-29th August

Where? Stoke Park

Get your tickets quick! The UK’s largest celebration of the world’s greatest pop and rock acts is steaming into Guildford. With an incredible line-up scheduled to perform on the festival stage, the whole family can enjoy this unforgettable day-out filled with music – a proper blast from the past! Thirteen of the world’s biggest tribute acts will perform across the two days at Stoke Park’s massive outdoor stage. #2 The Snail and the Whale

When? 4th-5th August

Where? Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

Join in on the adventures of a young girl and her searfaring father as they reimagine the story of a tiny snail’s incredible journey around the world, inspired by the much-loved children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. 

A heart-wearming adventure for all the family, this performance is brought to life by Tall Stories – an Olivier Award-nominated theatre company. They have certainly crafted a memorable day-out with live music you’ll be singing for the rest of the day!

Events in Guildford happen across the town but the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, named after the local actress, is a must-see venue with vibrant performances on show daily. #3 The Summer Make Space

When? Wednesday to Sundays throughout August: 10:30-11:30, 13:00-14:00 and 15:00-16:00

Where? Watts Gallery – Artists Village

Nestled in the Surrey Hills, Watts Gallery is a unique collection of arts and crafts – a hidden gem with rich culture on offer for all the family to explore. Not to mention, there’s a wonderful Tea Shop on site with the delicious cream teas a must-have treat whilst visiting!

The Make Space runs throughout the year, but during the summer holidays there are a variety of further dates added to fit around your busy schedule. #4 Friday Fizz Tasting

When? 6th and 27th August

We haven’t forgotten about the big kids either! Take an evening off and enjoy an introduction to Albury Vineyard and the English wine scene with your partner or friends. When? 18th August 

Where? Hatchland Park

Bring on the wild! This brand-new musical adaptation of family-favourite, The Jungle Book, is filled with audience interaction and even included the chance to meet the characters after the show. 

The larger-than-life musical will have you howling with laughter – it’s the perfect treat for the whole family. And, it’s a great opportunity to experience the thrill of outdoor theatre. Bring a few blankets and a picnic to settle down for an evening of fun.

#6 The Noisy Isle

When? 6th – 7th August 

Where? Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

We aren’t short of incredible live performances this August and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is yet again providing a unique experience for youngsters! Tailored to 7-11 year-olds, this interactive treasure-hunt show sees your children embark on an unforgettable adventure through a strange, magical new world. 

Led through puzzles whilst meeting mysterious characters on the route to discover a new home, it’s an exciting outdoor exploration that will leave your children with a smile on their face for days!

#7 Weyfest

A fabulous family festival set in the countryside with fantastic music, mouth-watering food, real ale, champagne, wine and cocktail bars to enjoy. There are plenty of attractions for both young and old generations, certainly it’s the perfect place to celebrate the summer. 

This year, they’re back with a vengeance and an amazing line-up consisting of Scouting for Girls and UB40, just to name a few. Whilst it’s slightly outside Guildford, it’s a short drive to Farnham where the festival is located. And, certainly it’s an exciting weekend!
