Best places to walk around Camberley and Blackwater

Thanks to our recent local photography competition, we have been reminded of and been introduced to some incredible places to get out and about in our local area.

And, with Covid-19 dampening the mood somewhat, we thought it would be great to share some of these, once again, so we can use this time to go out and take in the beauty we find on our doorstep.

Below are just a few of these amazing places to have some wintry adventures in Surrey Heath.

Hawley Lakes

Breath-taking woodland, autumnal trails and the stunning view of the trees shimmering in the clear lake waters is what you can expect from this delightful walk.  The best trail is a relatively gentle stroll of just over two miles across well-walked footpaths around the lake and passing through the Woodland of Hawley Woods. You have a sense of peace, lots of water loving wildlife to admire and the perfect opportunity to breathe in the crisp, winter air clearing out the cobwebs.

Set within the stunning heathland, Lightwater Country Park’s 59 hectares can be accessed from Bagshot’s Connaught Park, various locations within Lightwater and the Maultway.  There are a number of trails you can enjoy from the sedate, scenic walk around the ponds to the more challenging purple route leading to the top of Curley Hill where you can enjoy views of Woking, Guildford and even central London.

With ample parking, a newly built playground and a lovely café which caters to the human and the canine (ask for their ‘Puppiccino’), Lightwater Country Park will leave you spoilt for choice.

Frimley Fuel Allotments (Tomlinscote Way)

This hidden gem is not somewhere you will find on a local map and is really a local’s secret.  This delightful woodland is not huge but has an arrange of nature trails, uphill treks through the trees and gentle nature trails perfect for a family afternoon stroll.

There is a hidden and thrilling rope swing at the top (take all necessary safety precautions), some small ponds awash with birdsong at the back near the golf course and lots of woodland walks.
