For leisure, other than the ample independent and boutique shops in the town centre, you have the Yvonne Arnaud theatre, superb, diverse restaurants, cinemas and numerous outdoor pursuits on offer – once again, spoilt for choice.

The accommodation is hugely varied from the town centre cottages, exquisite new builds, Victorian conversions and the sprawling mansions in Pewley Hill, there really is something for everyone.

What is the London commute like?

You have a wide range of options if you are considering a London commute, Godalming’s direct train to London Waterloo takes 47 minutes across the stunning Surrey countryside where you can enjoy the sights the journey offers.

If you need to commute by car you can hop on the A3 within about a 10-15-minute drive which connects you to routes into London, via M3, M25 or the A3 directly. In the opposite direction you get to Portsmouth in under an hour


Is Guildford a good commuter town to London?

Guildford is a fantastic commuter town with two railway station giving access to London. London Road station and Guildford mainline station are centrally located and provide a regular commute to London Waterloo, fast train services taking approximately 40 minutes. The A3 and M25 can be easily reached and provide rapid links to the south coast, London and London Heathrow and Gatwick international airports in under one hour.

Does Guildford have good schools?

Anyone who knows Guildford should already know it is well served by a wide of excellent mainstream and private schools. Many of the local schools have been rated Outstanding reassuring local families that their children’s education needs are well catered for. The primary options include Pewley Down Infant school, Holly Trinity Junior School, Shalford Infant school and Tillingbourne Junior School. The secondary options are equally impressive with George Abbott, Guildford County and the private schools of Tormead, Guildford High School and the Royal Grammar School.
