A recent Rightmove survey revealed that 63 percent of homebuyers claimed having access to a garden or outdoor space is a priority, especially in post-pandemic living.

According to Joss Cooper, co-owner of Seymours Haslemere, useable and well cared for outdoor space will make a property ‘more desirable’ and no doubt ‘add value’.

He said: “It’s not just the outside space that you have, but it’s how you maximise it that matters. We recently marketed a Haslemere property with a beautifully designed terrace garden which sold for over the asking price.

“Properties with garden offices are also snapped up, as hybrid working has become the norm. There is also competition for homes with traditional English country gardens as green space is more attractive than ever before.”
