We are delighted to announce that The Meath Epilepsy Charity exceeded their ‘Sustain and Maintain’ Christmas Appeal target with the support of Seymours Godalming.

The local charity, which supports adults with complex epilepsy, aimed to raise £10,000 pounds during the festive season, but thanks to the generosity of individuals, schools, and businesses, they have raised £13,500.

Community support

To help increase awareness of the appeal we ran a festive board campaign with the help of charity supporters across Godalming. Alongside pupils at Loseley Fields, Broadwater, St Edmunds Catholic Primary, and Chandler C of E School, we also raised funds by holding an office Christmas Jumper Mufti Day.

Benefits of funding

Helen Jackson, Marketing and Communications Officer for The Meath explains how beneficial the vital funding will be: “The funds will help us to continue providing the life enriching daily skills activity sessions for the people we support. The amazing amount raised equates to 450 half day sessions being funded which is a wonderful start to 2022 for us!”

Fundraising in 2022

The Meath needs to raise £500,000 annually to keep its life enhancing services running and this isn’t possible without support from the local community. The personalised 360-degree holistic health and wellbeing services on offer, ensure that residents can maximise independence and mobility, minimise pain, retain physical and cognitive function and can pursue their own goals for 2022.

However, Lucy Miguda, Fundraising Manager explains that the full cost of these services is not met by Government funding: “Without fundraised income, life for the people we support would be very different indeed as unfortunately only the very basics are covered by statutory funding.

“Fundraised income is therefore vital as we continue to provide the enhanced quality of life that the people we support deserve. We are extremely grateful to our supporters and are also delighted to have some exciting fundraising events to look forward to during 2022 which marks our 130^th anniversary.”
