Why move to Ripley?

It’s one of Surrey’s prettiest villages

Ripley’s quaint thoroughfare is lined with characterful buildings, which are home to a collection of flourishing independent businesses. There’s a huge village green (one of the largest in the UK) and the beautiful backdrop of the abandoned Newark Priory sits on an island surrounded by the River Wey, just a short walk from the village centre.

Foodie-focus

Foodies are in for a treat in Ripley thanks to an artisan bakery, award-winning farmers’ market and the Clock House, which has a Michelin star. Other gastro destinations include the ivy-covered Talbot Inn, The Anchor pub, Nest Café and Pinnock’s Coffee Shop.

Sense of community

These a real community in Ripley, which pulls together to host an array of events each year, from Ripley Bonfire fireworks and the Ripley Rocks festival to the Grape & Grain food and drink festival and annual fete, which has been raising funds for over 35 years.

Musical heritage

Ripley is the birthplace of the acclaimed rock/blues guitarist Eric Clapton and the resting place of his son, Conor, who is buried at St Mary Magdalen Church in the village. Paul Weller also has his recording studios here and can often be found sitting having coffee in Nest.

Beautiful gardens

Ripley is not only home to Dunsborough Park, the privately-owned gardens which open at select times of the year including in April for its fabulous tulip festival, but it’s just five minutes’ drive from Wisley – the Royal Horticultural Society’s flagship garden.
